Roles of Men and Women in a Family

Babies are either declared as male or female based on appearances and genes, but that is the only thing that separates them from one another. But as children grow up in adults and start to have families, the roles they are expected to play also make them more different from one another.

In a family, the role of a man is to earn a salary and support his family. He is expected to have a good earning job, a car, money, good manners, etc. To his wife, he must be a loving husband who cares about her and always has her back no matter what. He must protect her and her children and be ready to sacrifice himself for them. To his children, he must be a leader and a teacher. He must teach them the way of the world and how to be successful in life. He must always prioritize them and always be there for them. He should also discipline them of their wrong-doings and teach them how to improve themselves as a person.

The role of a woman in a family is to take care of the house and take care of the children. She must do chores around the house, such as doing the dishes, vacuuming the carpet, dusting cabinets, cooking food, etc. She must also get the children ready before school, pick them up after school, and help them with their homework. She must be willing to "lose time at work and not lose the job," according to Judy Brady's I Want a Wife. This might also mean having a cut from her income.

A husband and a wife might have different roles and different goals in a family, but they both come together to one outcome: the success of their children.
